67F9A703-6BBE-47F9-8202-62942915BA4C
The Flyers rolled into the Scotia One for another 10-skater operation against the Dieppe Aigles!

The French Phenom started the scoring off with a back hand flick over the goalie and Belfield buried five hole the next shift!!!

After giving up a soft one and getting caught up with the refs the boys pulled away from timely goals getting up 6-2 at the end of the second.

The boys took some bad hits with no penalties and grinded out another tough W to bring the trap record to 3-0…

If you haven’t been to the rink to watch one of these games yet, it’s time to come watch because you will never witness something like this again. 10 skaters dominating an entire tournament, taking a beating and loving every minute of it… must see TV!!!!

Semi finals against the predators at 8:30 tonight.

Trap Experts

818AFB8E-8944-4581-9283-EB329B19A140 The Flyers rolled into Scotia One for another battle against future provincial finals matchup Brookfield Elks with their tough as nails, gritty, for the boys, 10-man lineup. You could see the morale change over on the Elks side of warmup when they counted up 10 Flyers skaters, but they learned quick that they aren’t to be taken lightly!!!

After falling to an early 2-0 deficit, looking like the gas tank was empty for good, Sully found a spare gas jug in the rink and gave the boys a huge morale boost with his goal scorers goal straight to the five hole giving the boys a second wind they so desperately needed!!

After that it was none other than Nolan Ovechkin who decided it was his turn to rip one home after the refs didn’t believe him that the puck crossed the line a few shifts earlier.

After an intermission break that saw Whitey eat an entire container of Oranges and Coker having a dress up party in the bathroom, it was Belfield who lit the lamp once again with a rocket from the high slot beating the goalie low blocker!! After a gruelling 15 minutes that saw the boys take a beat down, a goalie who ate 3 Reese’s peanut butter cups before the game step in and shut the door, and the ref losing his whistle, it was Sully who buried the empty netter to top the game off and secure the win for The Flyers.

Every single one of the boys took an absolute beat down tonight, everyone was hurt in the dressing room after. They took every hit like warriors and continued to take them to make a play because that’s what you do for the boys. The Boys were absolutely exhausted, frustrated and getting smoked every time they touched the puck, but it builds character, and trust between a brotherhood in the dressing room that makes you forget about the injuries and the pain because you know you all took it for each other and you got the win because of it!!! I’m so proud of these boys, we got to witness one of the gutsiest, grittiest games ever. I’ve never seen more passion and pride on the ice than what these young men showed tonight and I can’t wait to tell people about the game they missed.

You can’t beat The Sackville Trap!!!!!!

Dieppe tomorrow at 1pm!

Trap Game!

4EEDCC8B-DAB8-4720-9C72-FBC4127AB052 The Flyers rolled in to the Scotia Two in Cole Harbour with 10 skaters and a Master Plan to conserve energy, and pulled out a miraculous 7-6 OT Win over Cap Pelé Shediac Predators!

The Predators became Prey of The Sackville Trap which saw the boys play a style of game they’ve never seen before that they played to a tee because they trusted each other and never gave up!

The French Phenom started the game off with a bang outmuscling the Predator D man and ripping short side top shelf! After some questionable penalties and some absolute emptying of the tank the boys found themselves down 5-4 with 17 seconds left in the second, but Weyman ripped home a slapshot (off belangers leg) into the back of the net!!

After a much needed break inbetween the second and third, the Legion of Doom (minus Will) buried one home early and the boys kept the trap set all period long until a slight malfunction that found yellow helmet dishing a beauty to a fellow predator in the slot for the tying goal.

With 1:30 left Sully, Belfield and Belanger left the trap and went back to the home base that saw Sully miss 3 straight shots in the slot for the win pulling the classic “it was my stick” excuse!!!!

Overtime got underway and it was the 3 on 3 worst nightmare for anyteam east of Montreal as Belfield took the game, taking the puck from his own end, over the ringette line and ripping home the game winner over the goalies shoulder earning him the player of the game award!!

Huge shoutout to Gravy for battling through the stomach flu, popping halls and advil throughout the game, getting absolutely smoked from behind, overcoming his “broken back” and playing a position he’s never seen before to a tee and not complaining once. One of the most deserved Orange Hats of the year… what a beauty!!!

Game 2 against Brookfield tonight at 9:30.

Central Minor Champs!

The game of hockey, playoffs, what a beautiful thing, where you set aside your egos, you forget about the stress of the real world, and you do everything you are capable of for the guy next to you in the room because you know he will do it for you.

The Flyers rolled into Bedford for yet another away game as the #1 seed, but like we said before… you’re gonna need an army to stop these boys!!!!

The first period got under way with a bang when Sean Belanger took the puck from his own end, down the right side and ripped home a beauty to the top left like he’s done so many times before!

After some defensive zone errors the boys let a Bedford player steal the puck and squeeze one through Coker tying the game at 1, but with just 13 seconds left in the 1st period, The French Phenom Zacharie Chenard buried home a rebound from the “Holy F Im Wide Open” spot taking back the lead for the Flyers.

After a quick break inbetween periods for the short staffed Flyers it was none other than the Alexander Ovechkin of Sackville Minor Hockey, Nolan Belfield sniping one home in front of the net after receiving a beautiful dish from call up Blake Wilson who played an unbelievable game as well tonight!!!

The second period wrapped up the same way the first did for nickname fan favourite Lettuce as he took a beating all night long taking every hit for the boys to make sure he got the puck out and kept the puck in… that’s playoff hockey, sacrificing your body for the boys on your team because breaks and bruises heal and you know you did everything you possibly could for the win!

After the boys got caught puck watching the Blues scored another to make it a one goal game late in the 3rd, and with 2:53 left in the game the refs made another questionable call against Sean Belanger but there was nothing the boys wouldn’t do to kill that penalty off and to keep the lead, with Penalty Kill specialist William Oldford leading the way the Flyers got the puck out time and time again until it was on one young man to make a play to seal it, and who else but The Big Time Goalie Coker making a huge toe save with 2 seconds left to ensure the two banners were coming home to Sackville!!!!

A huge shoutout to Sully for being the heart and soul of the big orange machine tonight, the guy who emptied the tank and some,  doing everything he possibly could, earning him the MVP of The Finals taking his award with the big smile we’ve come to know, but it was nothing like the look on his face holding up those two banners with the guys he’s gone to war with all season long!!!!

Victories like these are so sweet, it makes all the hard times, all the bag skates, the early morning practices, the injuries, the dissapointment, the losses and the grind all worth it in the end to soak each other with Champagne (non alcoholic) and forever be champs with your names signed next to your family on those banners that hang up in the rink you grew up in.

We’re so proud of these young men, they put everything on the line and overcame adversity to secure this win, it was never a doubt!

Congrats Flyers on the League title, there’s still work to be done, but at least we have one day off to take in this win before SEDMHA!

Finals Bound!

The Flyers hosted the Cole Harbour Wings in Sackville Tuesday night in an eye opening game that saw the boys fall to an early 1-0 deficit after playing their worst period of the season to start things off. Luckily the hockey gods were on our side and we got a lucky one when Belanger dumped the puck in from center ice and the puck found it’s way to the back of the net!

After another full period of lacklustre play it was the Legion of Doom who capitalized on the power play 30 seconds into the 3rd period off a Belfield rip from the slot that sent the boys back to their dominant play and gave them the momentum shift they needed!

The Big Man inbetween the pipes made some HUGE timely saves all game long that kept the boys in it, making sure Cole Harbour had no glimmer of hope despite all their chances, earning him The Orange Hat!!

Sully continued his dominating play as he refused to lose the puck in the corner to the 3 guys he was battling against and popped himself out into the slot ripping one home to the top left! He wasn’t done there as nobody can grind it out in front of the net like him and he buried home a loose puck in the crease icing the game.

Groomer and Noah were out on the COVID reserve list so Marco carried the load making sure the two call ups on his line were in position and playing playoff hockey, as well as throwing his body around all game never getting pushed off the puck!

This 4-1 Win sends the boys off to the League finals where they have to play another away game as the #1 seed playing Bedford Blue in Bedford at 8:15 Wednesday night… but you know the Flyers motto: Anyteam, Anytime, Anywhere!!! The boys will be up for the adversity and won’t let anything stand in their way tomorrow night! Should be a good one!

League Playoffs

The Flyers rolled into The BMO Center to host the TASA Ducks (Black) and found their scoring touch early en route to an 8-1, classy win.

Will Oldford got the boys on the board early with his patented rip to the far side top shelf and the Flyers tallied up another two quick ones after that.

The boys started off the 2nd period in their usual slump and let TASA get a glimmer of hope  letting them bury a breakaway goal short handed. After a few minutes of a 3-1 game Ryder Scallion turned around and said "not for long" before hopping on the ice and burying a rocket into the top corner. Scally wasn’t done there as he finished the game with a casual hat trick to end his goal slump.

Sully continued his penalty streak but was all over the score board finishing with 4 points, and the yellow line got their playoff mojo back as Marco and Noah both tallied up a goal each to cap off their dominant play against the Ducks.

Whitey was all over the ice tonight, joining the rush, showing off his mitts and throwing his weight around but just couldn’t find the goal he’s been working so hard for… but it’s coming, you can feel it in the air.

Coker had 0 shots in the 1st period and got robbed of a shutout by the power play unit but he stood his ground and shut the door on every other chance TASA had en route to another 1 goal against game as you’d expect from the Big Time Game Goalie.

Duck hunting season opened early this year and the boys were ready for the hunt dominating from start to finish.

Tomorrow night we play Cole Harbour in the home barn and expect nothing less than a hard battle against the Wings!!
